20 Best Bathroom Mirror Ideas

Mirrors can work wonders in any room, especially your bathroom. Sure, practicality should always be top of mind, but the very best bathroom mirrors also serve as decorative statements, turning even the simplest of spaces into a stylish haven. Look at these bathroom mirror ideas, for example: Many of the following designs tap into your bathroom's existing aesthetic (modern, traditional or rustic) while others bring a whole new personality. All the while, these mirrors — some framed, others frameless — bounce the natural and overhead light, ultimately making it feel even more spacious than it really is.

While some of these mirror styles are better suited for small bathrooms, all of them can be tweaked to fit any size space, whether you're looking for an easy way to dress up your tiny powder room or something that'll fill up the wall above your double-sink vanity. Mirrors may be the main focus here, but a lot of these designs will also give you plenty of ideas of how to elevate your bathroom with different paint colors, tile figurations and light fixtures (in case you're in the market for a makeover).

kinds and models, how to choose

A bathroom cannot exist without a mirror, a must-have accessory that allows you to take care of your appearance. Modern designs, in addition to their main function, contribute to decorating the room, emphasizing the design idea. The stores offer a large selection of bathroom mirrors, but when choosing a product, it is necessary to build on not only aesthetic indicators, but also other characteristics, which we will discuss later.

Basic selection criteria

Modern bathroom mirrors have many interpretations. They differ in many ways: sizes, shapes, materials, etc. Mirror panels, consisting of an abstract collage, look spectacular, and huge floor-to-ceiling structures perfectly increase the space and make it possible to contemplate yourself, as they say, in all its glory. So, let's consider what you need to consider first of all when choosing a bathroom mirror.

Shapes and dimensions

If you want to significantly transform the interior in a modern style, you can resort to decorating one of the walls with mirror tiles, which can be square, triangular and radius. The most interesting mirrors of a special shape can be folded from individual elements. Traditional products are presented in the following forms:

- Square - able to adjust the bathroom, especially if it has an elongated area;
- Rectangular - the most popular type of panels that can be installed in different ways;
- Oval - have smoothed corners, due to which they significantly decorate the interior, giving it a harmonious look;
- Round - in addition to looking quite beautiful, they are able to visually expand the area.

As far as dimensions are concerned, there are no clear standards. The mirror must be selected in accordance with the dimensions of the room, as well as based on personal preferences. In addition to the large wall panels, a double-sided vanity mirror can be installed. One surface reflects in a normal image, and the other in an enlarged one. Such mini-mirrors can be mounted to the wall, while the mechanism allows you to rotate the structure at any angle.

Materials

If we consider the mirror constructively, when choosing a model, you need to pay attention to three of its components: the base, the mirror layer and the frame.

Two materials are used as a base - chipboard and MDF. Mirrors with a chipboard base are less expensive, but they are more susceptible to moisture, which in a bathroom will lead to rapid deterioration of the original state. It is better to opt for a more durable MDF base - let the product cost a little more, but it will last longer. For the same reason, you should not choose chipboard cabinets with bathroom mirrors.

The mirror layer, called amalgam, can be aluminum or silver. The second option has better reflective properties. The advantage of silver is that it is more resistant to conditions of high humidity and temperature extremes.

Bathroom mirrors can be framed or unframed (eg built into the wall). If a panel with a frame is preferred, it is better that it be made of plastic or metal, as these materials are optimally suited to the specific microclimate. In addition, plastic has a wide variety of designs and may well imitate natural wood, stone, and color options make it easy to choose a frame for any interior color scheme.

Types of bathroom mirrors

As we have already said, there are quite a lot of design options for reflective surfaces in the bathroom. Even the most ordinary mirror on the wall can become an original decorative element, being dressed in a stylish frame. Modern mirrors have not gone unnoticed by technological progress, and today there are panels equipped with glass heating devices that prevent them from fogging, magnifying glasses, temperature sensors, radio and other “bells and whistles”. Consider the most popular of them.

Wall mirror

This concept combines two ways to install a mirror. In the first case, we are talking about mirror panels with or without frames, which are mounted to the wall surface with special fasteners. They do not have structurally additional elements, but due to the selected frames they look quite stylish. In the second version, the mirror is installed directly into the wall (“embedded” into the finishing material). Mirror edging with tiles or moldings will bring a special aesthetic.

Corner mirror

Placing a cabinet with a mirror on the territory of an empty corner is an excellent solution for small-sized bathrooms. At the same time, the locker is long enough to accommodate hygiene items, and does not take up much space.

Mirror with shelf

This model can rightfully be called the most popular, which has passed the long test of time. The design is suitable for decorating any interior, it is convenient and practical, often complemented by decorative inserts, lighting. Some designs have additional hooks, stands, which makes them as convenient as possible. At the same time, the shelves themselves can be made of any material - the same mirror, glass, plastic. A mirror with additional structural elements will allow you to place and keep personal hygiene products in perfect order.

Mirror in cabinet construction

From the name it is already clear that the presence of a hanging cabinet is implied, on the outside of the sash of which there is a mirror. This design is mounted, as a rule, above the washbasin, making it easy to get the necessary accessories during makeup or other procedures. The advantage is that cosmetics and personal care products remain hidden from prying eyes, do not create a sense of disorder, being laid out in plain sight. When choosing such a cabinet, you need to pay attention to its dimensions - for small rooms, single-door structures with a shallow depth are preferable.

Illuminated mirror

This option can be called the most modern and, in general, expedient solution. There are several lighting options - it can be an LED strip that runs around the entire perimeter of the canvas, a traditional lamp directly above the mirror, or side lighting fixtures. In any case, such local illumination brings additional convenience during facial skin care or make-up, rejects the need for centralized lighting, and also creates a soft romantic atmosphere while taking baths.

Heated glass mirror

A convenient modern model, which is a new technology that allows you to avoid the accumulation of fog and condensation on the surface of the mirror. It does not matter at all how high the temperature and humidity in the bathroom are. The mirror heating system is similar to analogues placed in the organization of floor heating: on the reverse side of the mirror panel there is a thin film with wires, which are infrared heaters. In working condition, the current passing through these wires is capable of heating the surface in a short time. Mirrors are often complemented by lighting.

Mirrors and interior styles

An important aspect of the correct choice of a mirror is the correspondence of its external data to the style of the interior. The main role here is played by the shape of the canvas and the aesthetics of the frame.

For example, a luxurious classic bathroom is characterized by rectangular (oval) mirrors in luxurious frames made of wood or endowed with forged elements. Gilding or fragments of artificial aging may be present here.

For the Provence style, it is difficult to think of anything better than a mirror in an old wooden frame, decorated with carved decor. Sometimes the mirror surface itself has coating defects, which makes the design as believable as possible. The most successful shape is round, but others may be present. Beautifully look mirror paintings, located on forged stands.

The idea of minimalism in interiors does not imply luxury – order, rigor and brevity of design reign here. Mirrors may not have frames at all and surprise with their unexpected shapes. The maximum number of mirror surfaces is welcomed so that the room seems spacious and free. High-tech interiors will successfully complement illuminated, heated mirrors, and for a loft-style bathroom, you can choose the design of a floor mirror in a rough frame.
